Joint mobilisations are techniques aiming to decrease pain and stiffness by improve range of movement of an injured joint.
When applying a Moblisation to a joint due to pain this could be due to faulty movement or restriction of movement which results in pain. By applying a mobilisation technique the aim is to free up the joint if it is restricted. When it’s due to faulty movement it’s to allow the body to be use the correct pain free movement which helps relives the pain and in some cases it can go away all together.
Joint mobilization is a manual therapy technique used by physiotherapists and sports therapists to improve joint mobility and reduce pain. It involves applying passive movements to joints with the goal of increasing their range of motion and reducing any stiffness or restriction. The therapist uses their hands to apply controlled and gentle pressure to the joint, often in specific directions, to improve its function and decrease discomfort.
Rehabilitation
This is one of the most important parts of the treatment. This is the re-education the body with specific exercise prescribed for the injury and sport if a sports person.
The rehabilitation exercise looks at all the factors which can cause recurrence of the sustained injury and addressing them. The exercises will start simple and progress targeting all aspects of health individual such as flexibility, balance, body awareness, the core, muscle strength and movement.
